“George Barițiu” Secondary School, Jucu de Sus – A safer journey to school

20/05/2025

Education has deep roots in the community of Jucu de Sus, Cluj County. The first mention of a school in the area dates back to 1332, and this tradition continued throughout the centuries, marked by defining moments such as the certification of the first teacher in 1784 and the construction of a new school between 1902–1904. Today, “George Barițiu” Secondary School in Jucu de Sus educates more than 500 students, maintaining the same commitment to quality education, safety, and innovation.

In an educational environment undergoing continuous transformation, the focus on safety, mobility, and technology is more important than ever. This initiative brings together essential values of contemporary education: care for students, adaptability to new technologies, and collaboration between the public sector and private companies.

To address this need, the school in Jucu initiated a strategic partnership with AROBS TrackGPS through the implementation of the FleetCam video surveillance and tracking solution integrated into the school minibuses provided by the Cluj County Council. Student safety on the way to school becomes a reality with the help of the FleetCam solution.

In addition, the legal framework reinforces the importance of such initiatives: Law 162/2024 requires school buses in Romania to be equipped with real-time video monitoring and GPS systems. For many local authorities, this requirement involves a significant logistical and financial effort, but the partnership with AROBS TrackGPS provides a complete, tested, and efficient solution — a best-practice model that can successfully be replicated in other communities.

FleetCam – An integrated solution for student safety

“For us, protecting students means more than a legal responsibility — it is a moral duty. The FleetCam solution from AROBS TrackGPS provides us with complete control over school transportation, with real-time video monitoring, automatic alerts, and permanent access to the routes traveled by the minibuses,” states Prof. Trohonel-Mădălin-Gheorghe-Lucian, Principal of “George Barițiu” Secondary School in Jucu.

The FleetCam solution combines infrared video cameras, intelligent sensors, and high-precision GPS, enabling active supervision of students during transportation, reducing risks, and increasing parents’ confidence. Through the dedicated application, teachers and school management can access real-time data regarding routes, driver behavior, and possible traffic incidents.

A partnership based on trust, professionalism, and adaptability

“The collaboration with AROBS TrackGPS has been exemplary from the very beginning. The team quickly understood our specific needs and adapted the FleetCam solution to meet the highest safety standards. Installation, training, and technical support were carried out promptly and professionally,” adds the school principal.

From AROBS’s perspective, this collaboration highlights the company’s mission to bring technology closer to communities and actively contribute to the modernization of the educational system.

“The partnership with ‘George Barițiu’ Secondary School in Jucu is a clear example of the efficient use of technology for the benefit of the community. The FleetCam solution is designed to provide complete safety in school transportation through a comprehensive monitoring and control system. We are proud to contribute to creating a safer environment for students,” says Dan Mărginean, Operational Director of AROBS TrackGPS.

Innovation in education: how technology becomes an ally of schools

The collaboration between AROBS TrackGPS and the Secondary School in Jucu proves to be a model of best practices for other institutions across the country. This initiative demonstrates that modernizing school transportation is not only possible, but also essential for the progress of education in both rural and urban areas.

Through constant feedback and bilateral involvement, the FleetCam solution has been refined to meet the most demanding requirements — both technical and human. It is an example of dialogue between authorities, schools, and technology providers, all united by a common objective: the safety and well-being of children. The model implemented in Jucu can become a source of inspiration for other schools across the country aiming to improve school transportation through intelligent and sustainable solutions.

Together for a safer future

“We want this partnership to continue and expand. AROBS TrackGPS has demonstrated to us that technology can be accessible, efficient, and profoundly human in its impact. For us, every student transported safely represents a fulfilled mission,” concludes the school principal, Trohonel-Mădălin-Gheorghe-Lucian.

“AROBS TrackGPS does not only deliver technological solutions — it builds trust. The collaboration with the school in Jucu confirms that innovation finds its true value when placed in the service of education,” adds Dan Mărginean, Operational Director of AROBS TrackGPS.
